The grade 5 students are updating their blogs.  They are doing very well. In only three months they are posting, weekly, leaving comments, replying to comments, using the spell check function (usually!) and linking in their posts. The plan before Christmas if for us to be adding photos and embedding content!

We had a fantastic week, which you can read all about on their blogs.   It is very hard to pick one highlight, we did many great things week.  We had a think project, played floor hockey, had some fun hands on math classes, and even went geocaching.  However, the best waws the field trip to the Movie Mill for Marvin Day.  It was fantastic to see the student’s movies on the big screen!  Britni, Sidney, MichaelV, Sam has their movies shown.  Braidyn’s had audio issues at the last moment, I felt so bad for her.

The kids had fun taking video and photos while geocaching today, I see what I can post and share some of their excitement.

An Animoto of my adventures so far!

We´ve made it! After two long flights (10 hours from Toronto to Sao Paulo) we are in Brazil. It has been fantastic to connect with the other Canadian Innovative Teachers. After two flights and many enthusiastic introductions we finally here! We’ve made it as far as Sao Paulo. We are staying a lovely hotel and enjoyed a fantastic meal of beef. I hit the salad bar, but everyone else enjoyed the meat. I can´t wait to meet educators from all over the world. Ms. Hubber, from Coalhurst, started a voicethread about our travels. Please comment and contribute.

Our excitement of the day came at the Sao Paulo airport. As we were waiting in line at customs I looked up to see Taylor Launter (that is probably spelled wrong and my grade 5 girls could easily fix it) and Kristen Stewart, the New Moon stars. One of the other teachers was brave enough to ask for an autograph and Ms. Hubber snapped these photos and video:

Everyone was very calm and collected in the customs area and the baggage claim area, but once they stepped out into the main waiting area there was a crowd of screaming girls mobbing them.

If the video is blocked harrass Mr. Wilson about how Flickr is a very useful photo sharing and collaborative tool. It also has great creative commons licensing to be able to reference and reuse images ethically.

I was just trying to get out of the way!

We arrived to a lovely hotel and used the time to get to know everyone and their projects a bit better. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
